Grape variety: 50% merlot 50% refosco dal peduncolo rosso
Vineyard location & soil composition: In the plan with clayey-sandy soil of alluvial origin. The area is with cool climate, influenced by near Adriatic Sea.
Altitude: 5 meters s.l.m.
Average age of vines: 30 years for Refosco vines, 10 years for Merlot vines.
Growing system: Sylvot for merlot and guyot for refosco
Harvest time: the third ten days of September
Harvest method: by hand
IN THE CELLAR
Vinification, fermentation – maturation: the two grape varieties are harvested separately; the grapes are destemmed and left to macerate for 12 days at a temperature of 26-28°C; the fermentation is assisted by short frequent remontage and delestage to achieve a generous, goodbodied wine with a long finish. After the wines are racked and undergo malolactic fermentation, they are blended, set in French oak barriques and tonneaux, and age for 6 months in the cellar.

IN THE GLASS
Tasting notes: on the nose it is pronounced and complex offering notes of wild berries that perfectly mingle with hints of spice: tobacco and vanilla above all. In the mouth is it velvety and charming.
Serving temperature: 16-18° C
Pairing suggestion: a meditation wine to linger over, it is sapid, tannin-rich and has a full body. It goes very well with rich and robust elaborate red meat dishes.
